Unforgiven

Over the March break part of my home work was to watch a academy award winning or nominated film. i decided to watching the movie that won the year i was born.

the 1992 Academy award winner for best picture was Unforgiven staring Clint Eastwood, Morgan Freeman, Gene Hackman, and Richard Harris.A group of prostitutes in Big Whiskey, Wyoming, offers a $1000 reward to whoever can kill two cowboys who disfigured one of them. The story follows an aging outlaw and killer who takes on one more job years after he had hung up his guns and turned to farming. This movie is definitely A dark Western that deals frankly with the uglier aspects of violence and the myth of the Old West. Will (Clint Eastwood's characters) has now gone back to his old ways of killing for money. Through out the whole movie Will is trying to convince himself that his has change has he is only doing this job for the money. i found it interesting that after years of giving up that life style, getting sober, getting marries and having kids, that will was able to just drop everything to go chase after two wanted men. It really brings meaning to the saying old habits die hard. and it transfers to real life. so many times we drop bad habits and transform our lifestyle completely but as soon as thing get bad we automatically resort to our old ways. this movie really opened my eyes to how we love our comfort zones as how in a blink of an eye we find ourselves back in the situations we were originally trying to run form. although at first the movie doesn't seem like one I would have watched I found it quite enjoyable and i would definitely watch it again knowing that I'd find a new message.
